SEND Course Achieves 100% Employability

17/03/2026

We are delighted to announce that our BA (Hons) course in SEND and Inclusive Practice has achieved 100% Employability from our graduates on the course! All of these former students have gone on to be working in the sector of study, which is a great result for our students and shows how this course can prepare you for working in SEND and Inclusive practice.

One of the ways that we prepare learners for employment is through our Career Excellence Hubs. At University Centre Weston our approach goes beyond the traditional classroom setting. Through industry speakers, workshops, employer projects, and more, we equip our learners with the real-world experiences and insights that set them apart in the competitive job market. It’s not just about getting a job; it’s about standing out from the crowd when they embark on their job searches.

Course leader Ben gave us some details of some of the things that students have gone on to do since leaving the course. “Students have gone onto be Specialist Autism Practitioners within further education and a secondary school. Another is a SEMH lead within a secondary school while one is a Lecturer within a specialist provision for learners with profound and multiple learning difficulties in a further education provider.”

We caught up with former student Kayleigh, who studied on the course. She said: “My time at UCW deepened my understanding of SEND and inclusive practice. The insights shared by lecturers and guest speakers played a key role in shaping my perspective and inspiring the way I aim to make a meaningful difference. During this time, there was a strong emphasis on linking theory to practice, which aimed to equip us with the skills and understanding needed to apply inclusive strategies effectively in real-world settings.

“My advice would be to future students who want to work in the world of inclusive education is to embrace every opportunity to learn, both academically and through real-world experience. Don’t hesitate to seek support or guidance when needed and always remain open to constructive feedback. It’s through reflection and continuous development that we strengthen our ability to provide the highest quality support to individuals with SEND.”
