Learners Take Part in Viking Battle Photoshoot!

19/11/2025

Our Makeup, Wigs and Special Effects learners took part in an exciting, hands-on activity. Their task was to prepare the makeup, prosthetics, hair and costumes for a Viking battle photoshoot! Each learner put their own spin on the brief – making their model up to look like a Viking ready for battle. The models were then photographed by the photographers for the learner portfolios.

The activity then headed down to Weston Beach where learners directed the photographers on how to capture the best shots of their subjects. Solo shots were taken, as well as big battle scenes featuring all the models posing together on the beach. Weston was the perfect location for this photoshoot, with the beach helping to cement the Viking battle atmosphere. A learner from our Film and Media Arts Production degree also came along, taking photos and developing their skills in cross-course collaboration.

This industry style activity forms part of the Performance and Production Arts Careers Excellence Hub. University Centre Weston has ten sector-specific Career Excellence Hubs, which evidence our dedication to supporting both employers and learners in achieving their future goals. By creating a seamless connection between industry and education, we enable learners to acquire not only the essential skills and knowledge but also the professional networks necessary to excel in their chosen fields.
