This Honours Top-up prepares students for varied and exciting design careers by promoting creativity alongside practical business skills, while also dedicating time to research and academic development for those who are looking to progress to postgraduate study.
The course is work-based, with a focus on commercial awareness, professional experience and employability. You will pitch your own ‘design for social impact’ to real businesses and public sector organisations and then, in collaboration with your classmates, project manage a final group showcase which takes the form of a touring exhibition. In recent years, this has involved our students exhibiting, winning awards and impressing design agencies in London and Bristol.

The course is taught by design professionals who continue to practise and expert visiting practitioners, ensuring its taught elements continue to be up-to-date.
They will support you in realising your creative potential and can also help you secure a great work placement through their industry contacts.
Our graduates have also gone on to secure design roles at fantastic companies including Aardman Animations, Amazon, Dyson, Snapchat and Twitter.
The course is taught at Loxton Campus – the home of our art, design, film and media, and music degrees. Our Graphic Design students all have their own work space, which is theirs to use 5 days a week during term, and access to Apple Macs loaded with industry-standard software. By studying on this course, you will also benefit from the fantastic facilities on offer at our brand new University Centre in the Winter Gardens building in the centre of Weston.
More than half of graphic design graduates in employment in the UK are working as graphic designers six months after graduation (Prospects).
