Last week, learners on our BA (Hons) Early Years Education degree and BA (Hons) Education, Society and Childhood degree invited parents and carers to join them for an impressive showcase of their end of year projects!
Students showed off impressive displays showcasing what they had learned across their time at UCW. These pieces combined personal reflection with academic theory. Students presented contemporary ideas about caring for children in a range of settings.
A key highlight of the showcase was the creativity shown by students. This reflects a key skill that will be utilised in their professional lives. One student created a pirate theme exhibit, complete with a full treasure chest and treasure map, each containing theories and good practice for early years and education.
One student created a full-size dollhouse with each room containing a theory, practice or reflection. This piece also reflected on the university trips to Budapest and Berlin which helped learners to grow their knowledge of early years, education and society internationally.
Several students made and presented scrapbooks with theory and reflection. Some of these scrapbooks were digital, and some were printed. These tackled serious issues including readiness for school and SEND, all backed up with academic literature.
UCW Awards winner Joseph Marcal Ham presented a full vlog about his time at UCW and how it had prepared him for life as an early years practitioner. The audience loved this and celebrated along with him!
This showcase forms part of the Early Years and Education Careers Excellence Hub. University Centre Weston’s Career Excellence Hubs are designed to be the launching pad for our learners’ careers. In a world where connections and relevant skills matter more than ever, these hubs offer a holistic approach that prepares learners to thrive in their chosen industries. With the support of these hubs, our learners are well-equipped to make a significant impact in their professional journeys.
