Last week, UCW welcomed students and staff to a Winter Celebration of Culture, an event designed to bring the community together through festive activities and cultural traditions.
The celebration highlighted a variety of religions and customs, giving students the opportunity to share how they mark the festive season. From discussions about international traditions to hands-on activities, the event encouraged learning and creativity.
One of the most popular activities was wreath making. Students began with wooden wreath bases and had the freedom to personalise their designs using holly leaves, bows, golden foliage, pinecones, and more. Many planned to display their creations at home, and one student even brought along Christmas-themed accessories such as sunglasses and headbands from people to wear to add extra cheer to the session.
Adding to the festive atmosphere, Musical Theatre students delivered a lively performance of Christmas carols. Using props like paper “snow,” Santa costumes, and choreographed dances, their performance delighted the audience and provided the students with valuable experience by performing in front of peers and staff.

Guests also enjoyed a selection of cakes and sweet treats, and those interested in learning more about different faiths could explore a range of religious materials available at the event.
This celebration was a fantastic way to kick off December, combining creativity, cultural awareness, and festive spirit. Thank you to all the students and staff who took part and made the event such a success.
