John has worked extensively as an actor and director with many professional companies. He held the position of Artistic Director at both Belgrade Theatre in Education and Humberside Theatre in Education. He has also worked with many companies as a freelance director, including: Travelling Light, C&T, Worcester, Big Brum, Big Fish, Theatr Powys, the Masken Theater in Denmark, the Commonwealth Institute and the Hull Truck Theatre Company.
He has taught and directed undergraduate and postgraduate students in both small and large scale productions, and is interested in the relationship between actor and audience and the development of new sites and processes for performance. John graduated from the Institute of Developmental Transformations, and is Chair of the British Association of Dramatherapists.
