Yesterday, the first ever cohort of our Paramedic Degree Apprenticeship started at UCW! This is an exciting development, kicking off a journey over two years for these students towards becoming fully trained paramedics.
This degree was developed in partnership with the University of Worcester, based on a mutual understanding of the need for high-quality, community-based education. This degree is designed to help a skills gap in local paramedics, making it a vital part of the community.
The paramedics on the course will be working with South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWAST), who have worked closely with UCW and the UoW to design the course around their needs. This course will be taught at the Health and Active Living Skills Centre, a state-of-the-art facility with a simulation ward for the best healthcare training.
This new degree apprenticeship forms part of the Healthcare Careers Excellence Hub. University Centre Weston has ten sector-specific Career Excellence Hubs, which evidence our dedication to supporting both employers and learners in achieving their future goals. By creating a seamless connection between industry and education, we enable learners to acquire not only the essential skills and knowledge but also the professional networks necessary to excel in their chosen fields.
