Final-year BA Business Management and Sustainability student Ella Trounce was recognised for her outstanding academic achievements and dedication to sustainability, earning her a nomination for Business and Professional Student of the Year at the UCW Awards.
Ella has consistently demonstrated exceptional commitment to her studies, excelling in her coursework and conducting insightful, thought-provoking research. Alongside her academic success, she has actively contributed to sustainability initiatives, showing a strong passion for ethical and responsible business practices. Balancing her studies with employment at Weston College, Ella has embodied dedication, professionalism, and a drive to succeed.
Reflecting on her experience at UCW, Ella highlights the unique benefits of studying in a supportive and collaborative environment: “Getting to study alongside a lovely group of students to share our thoughts, ideas, and sometimes have a debate has been a real highlight. The continued support from my lecturers, whose dedication, support, and passion is second to none, has also had a huge impact on my learning experience.”
Ella’s time at UCW has enriched her academic knowledge and provided invaluable industry exposure. From guest lectures and employer insights to an eye-opening visit to a solar farm, Ella has embraced every opportunity to expand her understanding of sustainable business practices, as she explains, “We’ve had lots of brilliant guest speakers throughout the course. These have provided us with different industry insights, helping us make connections and develop our academic skills. The solar farm visit was particularly memorable and brought us together as a group.”
Alongside her studies, Ella has gained hands-on experience working within various departments at Weston College and UCW, further developing her professional skills and confidence. She attributes much of her growth to the supportive learning environment:
“UCW has helped me grow my confidence drastically, particularly in academic writing, presentations, and my overall professional skill set. The small class sizes and strong tutor support have made a real difference to my development.”
Looking ahead, Ella is eager to embark on her professional journey, with aspirations of securing a graduate role and eventually stepping into a leadership position where she can support others in achieving their career goals.
Her nomination for this award is a testament to her hard work, determination, and passion for business and sustainability. We are incredibly proud to celebrate Ella’s achievements and look forward to seeing the impact she makes in the future.
