UCW students will be taking some incredible trips next year!
Learners on our Musical Theatre and Dance for Commercial Performance programmes will be going to New York as part of the Turing Scheme in June 2026. Students study for one month at the prestigious Broadway Dance Center in the centre of New York City. This is a brilliant opportunity for these specialised learners to immerse themselves in the most famous location for musical theatre and dance in the world!
The trip has been well received in recent years with one learner, Kim saying “I’ve created some amazing connections with both teachers and students, so many diverse people within one building all with the passion to improve and grow within dance!” Kim was also impressed by the range of dance styles available at the Broadway Dance Center “From the classics like ballet and Jazz to more commercial styles like Popping and Afro, there was something for everyone and every ability was valued.” Kim was grateful for the trip “I cannot thank UCW and our course leaders enough for this experience!”
Our Animal Conservation, Behaviour and Welfare students will also be taking an exciting trip next year. In March they will be heading to South Africa as part of the Gap Africa Projects! Students will be seeing the Waterberg Biomonitoring Programme, based at the Welgevonden Game Reserve, a 36,000ha wildlife reserve in the North East of South Africa.
The types of animals present at this location include large herds of plains zebra and blue wildebeest. Lions, hyenas and cheetah are also seen on the reserve. There is a wide range of wildlife at the reserve, making this a perfect environment for students studying conservation and animal behaviours.
These trips form part of the Performing & Production Arts and Animal, Environment & Biological Studies Career Excellence Hubs. University Centre Weston has ten sector-specific Career Excellence Hubs, which evidence our dedication to supporting both employers and learners in achieving their future goals. By creating a seamless connection between industry and education, we enable learners to acquire not only the essential skills and knowledge but also the professional networks necessary to excel in their chosen fields.
