This International Women’s Day, we’re taking a moment to look back at some of the incredible women who have achieved incredible things while studying at UCW! These people have shown determination, talent and have made a real impact!
Beth studied on our BA (Hons) Graphic Design course, using her time with us to experiment, refine her skills, and push the boundaries of her creative practice. One of Beth’s biggest achievements was having her design professionally printed and distributed at The Cube Microplex in Bristol, a fantastic step towards her career in the industry. Beth also showcased her work at the UCW Summer Show, saying: “Being able to look back on my progress and feel proud of my work was a huge moment for me.” Before graduating, Beth won our coveted Creative Student of the Year Award at the UCW Awards – a testament to all of her hard work!
We’re also celebrating Grace, who was awarded the Luke Wheaton Trust Scholarship last year. The money from this scholarship is helping Grace learn to fly by getting a Private Pilot Licence! “Learning to fly has always been a dream of mine, but it’s also a big step towards my goal of becoming an aerospace engineer.” This hands on experience with flying has helped Grace while she studies on her HE Aero Mechanical degree apprenticeship We are so proud to see Grace excel in what is typically seen as a male dominated field, breaking down barriers and reflecting the spirit of International Women’s Day.
Also showing brilliant skills through a degree apprenticeship is Annabelle, our winner of the Business and Professional Services Student of the Year. Annabelle was invited to speak at the South Wales and West of England Conference, where she shared her insights on hybrid learning and the complexities of achieving social value in hybrid working environments.
