BSc Environmental Health Practitioner student Alexandra Winter is celebrating after being awarded the 2026 CIEH BSc Environmental Health Excellence Award for her dissertation research.
Alexandra’s dissertation, “Effectiveness of Safety Information on E-Bikes and E-Scooters: Perceptions of Adolescents Aged 16-19 and Safety Stakeholders”, was selected as the winner from a field of exceptionally high-quality entries, with the judges unanimously choosing her research for the award.
The judging panel recognised Alexandra’s work as innovative, timely and highly relevant to emerging environmental health issues, including transport, sustainability, public safety, storage and risk communication. Her research explored a live and developing issue and included recommendations with practical relevance for policy and practice.
Alexandra said:
“The award came as a complete surprise but is a fantastic achievement after getting through the dissertation! I am so thankful for the support from my tutors. I am hopeful that further research can be achieved and meaningful changes happen to protect young people in relation to e-micro mobility.”
