We are very pleased to announce that we have been recognised by the National Association of Student Money Advisors (NASMA) in their report on exceptional approaches to financial support and student budgeting. Student finance is an incredibly important part of university life, making this a key area to excel in.
The report emphasises the excellent work carried out by our Student Financial Support Officer Becky. She makes a point of meeting each student in-person so that she can get to know them and ensure that they know what financial support and services can be accessed while at UCW.
Becky said: “I support the bursaries, the scholarships, the hardship fund, our food pantry, income reconciliation … anything with the word ‘finance’!”.
The report also highlighted that a key section of UCW’s community is mature students and degree apprentices. As a result of this, Becky’s support also includes signposting these students to mortgages and explaining the concept of credit scores. Many of our students are juggling work, study, and family life, and so the financial guidance they receive reflects this due to its personalised nature.
