HMPP Take Part in Emergency Incident Training

26/01/2023

Recently, our incredibly talented Hair, Make-up and Prosthetics for Production (HMPP) students took part in a major incident simulation event with Southwestern Ambulance Service in Filton, Bristol.

Our students have taken place in several incident exercises in the past, including with the Police, Fire brigade and Coastguard, using their expertise to create gruesome wounds and injuries designed to immerse the training emergency workers within the exercise.

With this added realism, emergency workers get the chance to really push and develop their skills in a pressurised environment, as they would in a real-life emergency situation.

This is the first event set up with the ambulance training team and we are please to hear it was a huge success – with the team even requesting to work with our students again!

Tim Wallace, HART Paramedic and Team Educator had this to say “The team from UCW were amazing. They provided incredible make up and moulage for a major incident exercise with the ambulance service Hazardous Area Response Team in Bristol. The paramedics who took part in the exercise were blown away by the realism of the injuries the team produced, and these really helped to create a high-fidelity simulation for them. On the day, the team were professional, adaptable, and really engaged with achieving our vision and what we were trying to do. We are so grateful to them and look forward to working together again in the future.

Outstanding work guys!
