Office for Students Visits UCW

University Centre Weston (UCW) welcomed representatives from the Office for Students (OfS) this week as part of the regulator’s ongoing programme of provider visits across England.

The OfS is the independent regulator for higher education in England, responsible for ensuring that students receive a high-quality academic experience, achieve positive outcomes, and get value for money from their studies. As part of its role, the OfS regularly engages with universities and colleges to strengthen regulatory insight, understand local priorities, and support providers in meeting the needs of students from all backgrounds.

During the visit, OfS representatives met with UCW students from a range of subject areas to hear first-hand about their experiences, aspirations, and the support available within the institution. Staff across academic departments, student support services, and senior leadership also contributed to discussions on UCW’s ongoing commitment to access, participation, high-quality teaching, and strong student outcomes.

The delegation toured UCW’s specialist facilities, gaining insight into how the university centre continues to invest in high-quality learning environments that reflect industry standards and support progression into employment and further study.

“We were delighted to host the Office for Students and provide an opportunity to showcase the work taking place across UCW to deliver an outstanding higher education experience,” said Sadie Skellon, Vice Principal of Higher Education. “The visit offered valuable opportunities for open dialogue around quality, outcomes, and our shared commitment to ensuring all students can succeed.”

The visit forms part of the OfS’s broader engagement with higher education providers to ensure that the sector remains high-quality, inclusive, and responsive to the needs of students and employers.
