We love seeing where our students go after graduating! In Charli’s case, she went all the way to Greece for an exciting opportunity with Ikos Aria, a hotel on the island of Kos! We caught up with Charli to see how she’s been getting on.
Working in this role involved being an entertainer for children at the hotel. Charli was a key part of the Kids Club, playing games with them and getting them involved with sports activities like cycling or competition, or art activities like rock painting and flower crowns. In the evenings she ran activities like silent discos or movie nights.
Charli was slightly nervous when she was first preparing to go to Greece, but in the end, the opportunity to travel to a new country proved more exciting than scary! Now that she is coming to the end of her time in Kos, she is joining the talented Lapland UK team for the Christmas period.
UCW prepared Charli for this role through the mock audition process, since this role was run by RWS Casting. As part of the audition, Charli had to introduce one of the other auditionees as if they were a guest act, present a quiz question, take part in a party dance and present a talent in which she sang the song Valerie by Amy Winehouse. UCW also helped her prepare for being abroad without family through a trip abroad.
This trip abroad forms part of the Performing and Production Arts and Music Careers Excellence Hub. At University Centre Weston our approach goes beyond the traditional classroom setting. Through industry speakers, workshops, employer projects, and more, we equip our learners with the real-world experiences and insights that set them apart in the competitive job market. It’s not just about getting a job; it’s about standing out from the crowd when they embark on their job searches.
