Join us in person or online for an unforgettable performance…

Andy Warhol’s ‘Exploding Plastic Inevitable’, also known as EPI’’ was a series of multimedia events organised by the artist in 1966 and 1967, featuring musical performances by The Velvet Underground and Nico, screenings of Warhol’s films, and dancing and performances by regulars of Warhol’s Factory including his muses Edie Sedgwick and Ingrid Superstar.

Warhol was recently classed as ‘The Original Instagrammer’. Without doubt, Warhol would have embraced social media and new technologies such as videoconferencing in our time. He predicted that in the future, everyone will be famous for fifteen minutes’.

Exploding Plastic Inevitable 2.0 is a Fluxus immersive multimedia experience which aims recreate the original event within a telematic performance setting. Warhol and some of his performers and band members will appear as a re-incarnation in a digital multiverse brought to live by actors in the UK and abroad. The multi-media installation will include integration of art, dance, acting and music.

Performances are about 25 minutes in length and audiences in the physical space are encouraged to explore the space freely. The space is also fully accessible.

Performers include BA Hons Dance for Commercial Performance students. The collaborative research project will feature hair and makeup by the BA Hons Hair, Make up and Prosthetics for Production students, and will be captured by the photography and film department.
