UCW Students Recognised at Awards Evening

On Thursday 4th December, Weston College hosted its annual Celebration of Success at the Winter Gardens Pavilion. An evening dedicated to recognising the hard work, talent and achievements of outstanding learners – with several current UCW learners taking home a prestigious Student of the Year award, following their studies at Weston College.

  • Evie Aylott was recognised as Art, Graphics and Fashion Student of the Year, celebrating her creativity, technical skill and dedication to her craft.
  • Jessica Kellow received the Automotive, Engineering and Green Skills Student of the Year award, acknowledging her impressive progression and commitment to developing industry-ready expertise.
  • Liv Gray was awarded Creative and Digital Student of the Year, a testament to her innovative approach, professionalism and passion for the digital industries.
  • Alex Howard was recognised as Access to HE Student of the Year, for his outstanding attitude, perseverance, and academic performance.
  • Caroline Gower was recognised as Counselling Student of the Year, recognising her passion for learning, supporting peers, and committing to her personal and professional development.

All winners were nominated by staff across the College Group, with final selections made by a panel including the College’s Principal, Deputy Principal and Chief Operating Officer.

Guests at the ceremony enjoyed a Christmas-themed two-course meal, prepared by Level 3 Hospitality and Catering students and served by Level 2 learners, before each UCW award recipient took to the stage to be celebrated with applause from family, friends and invited guests. Awards were presented by Principal and Chief Executive Pat Jones, Weston-super-Mare Mayor Martin Williams, and Brigadier Nigel Beacom.

Evie, Jessica, Liv, Alex and Caroline, have each demonstrated remarkable commitment to their personal and professional development, and they are continuing to thrive at UCW. Their achievements exemplify the determination, creativity and professionalism that our higher education community is known for. We look forward to seeing what they go on to accomplish next – they have incredibly bright futures ahead.”
