Lecturer Craig, who teaches on our Game and Animation Production course is close to releasing his own game, Forsaken Realms: Vahrin’s Call through his own company Titan Roc!
This game is an action RPG set in a whimsical world, with humorous fantasy and grounded combat mechanics. The game will be initially launching on PC through Epic and Steam, with plans to port to Xbox and PlayStation later.
The game’s development has helped students on the course develop their skills in a number of key areas. Titan Roc offers students work experience while on their course to increase their employability and develop on-the-job skills. Placements are chosen based on the areas of game development that students are interested in and what skills they want to develop. Several of these students have gone on to work for big studios in the industry.
Students have also gone on to work for Titan Roc after graduating from the course. Currently there are six UCW graduates employed, working full time on Forsaken Realms: Vahrin’s Call to get it ready for release.
The game also helps Craig keep his skills sharp, being up to date with all the latest technology and ideas in the game development world. Previously living in Ireland, Craig worked for Bioware and Mythic Entertainment working on hit games including Star Wars: The Old Republic, Dark Age of Camelot, Warhammer: Age of Reckoning and Ultima Online.
One of Craig’s fellow Game and Animation Production Lecturers Malcolm also works on the game alongside him. As a former student who graduated from this very same course, Malcolm was able to put the skills he gained to good use straight away in a paid role.
