What Should You Pack for Uni?

20/08/2025

Not sure what to pack for uni this September? You’re not the only one! To help you get the most out of your packing, we caught up with Terri, the resident warden at our Parkside Accommodation.

What are the essentials that everyone needs?

“There are all of the essential cooking items, like pots, pans as well as mugs and plates. You’ll need bedding and toiletries as well. The top three things I would recommend are noise cancelling headphones, an air fryer and any important documents that you’ll need to enrol.

What is something that people often forget?

“It is also vital for you to bring the hobbies that make you happy in your spare time such as sports, arts and crafts – self-care is going to be really important to you. Bring your bike, skateboard, golf clubs – whatever you like doing, we can help you continue that here!”

What is something that people don’t think to bring?

“People take for granted that all water tastes the same! Lots of students have bought water filters because the tap water is harder here and tastes different to them.”

What do people bring, but end up not needing?

“Cars! You can get about quite easily between campuses without a car and parking can be a pain trying to find a road without charges. You can sometimes be parked quite a way from your accommodation which is not ideal.”

What should someone pack to make their room feel like home?

“Students can bring battery fairy lights, plants, cosy throws and plenty of photos of home. I’ve also seen students bring game consoles and kindles to read their favourite books.”

Thanks to Terri for chatting with us! There’s still time to join us this September! Click here to find out more about clearing!
