Matt

“I’ve started a lifelong career exactly where I want to be all thanks to the incredible staff at UCW”.

After completing this course, Matt progressed to the BA (Hons) Top-up Degree in Uniformed and Public Services at UCW and then got a job as an Intelligence Assistant for Avon and Somerset Police.

Carla

“I have really enjoyed the trips and expeditions throughout the course. Gambia in particular was a real eye opener and an unforgettable experience. One of my proudest moments was reaching the top of Snowdonia!

“My confidence has grown significantly throughout the course. Studying at UCW has given me so many life skills and the opportunity to persue my career.”

Carla progressed to the Honours top-up in Uniformed and Public Services at UCW and is now working as a Public Services Lecturer at Norton Radstock College.

Daniel

“The lecturers made my time at UCW worthwhile – they have vast experience and are always there to help. The course had access to public service sectors, like the police and the military, which was very useful.”

Dan says winning the Principal’s Scholarship Award, which he described as a “complete shock, but very proud moment”, was a highlight from his time at UCW. Daniel says his lectures have been inspiring and he has thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of his stimulating course.

What next? Dan, who is in the Territorial Army, plans to complete a BA Honours in Built and Natural Environment at UWE and then hopes to go into the Royal Engineers.

Shona

“I particularly enjoyed the practical work aspect of the course. It was great being able to get out with the police and view the work they do at first hand.”

Shona has always wanted to join the police and, thanks to contacts made through the course, was able to gain work experience and has now secured a role as Police Community Support Officer (PCSO) based at Fishponds School in Bristol. Shona describes her course tutor as fantastically helpful and knowledgeable.

What next? When recruitment re-opens, Shona would like to become a police officer and, at some stage in the future, pursue a career in law.
