We asked our HEART student services team for their top tips for coping with the joys and stresses of results day. Here’s what they came up with:
1) Get some sleep
Whether you are celebrating getting exactly what you were hoping for or have to re-evaluate your options, you don’t want to be tired. Thinking about it all night isn’t going to change anything.
2) Eat breakfast
It’ll be a long day…
3) Log in to UCAS Track
Track will update at 8am, and you’ll be able to find out whether your firm choice has confirmed your place. Don’t worry if the website is taking ages to load as thousands and thousands of people will be doing exactly the same thing.
4) Remember that you’ve done great
If you don’t achieve the results you wanted, so what!? You’ve still got so, so many options: try again, go to a different uni, have a gap year, start a business, get a job until you decide on your next move…
You’ve learned so much in the past two years, regardless of what your results are 🙂
5) Your place is confirmed
Congratulations! UCAS will email you with information about what to do next. Some universities will need you to follow further instructions to confirm your place but others won’t, so thoroughly read any messages you receive.
6) You didn’t quite get the results you needed
Don’t panic! You may already have contingency plans in place or you may be unsure about what to do next, but being calm will help you make a good decision. If you want to apply for a different university, UCAS Clearing is open and there are still plenty of available places across the country.
7) Speak to an expert
Clearing can be a daunting process and if you would like some expert guidance from UCW’s friendly HEART team, give them a ring on 01934 411 409, email HEART@ucw.ac.uk or fill out our contact form and someone will be in touch.
You’ve earned it!
Good luck from everybody at University Centre Weston!
