Sports Studies, FdSc

This course enhances students’ knowledge and practice in the contemporary sporting disciplines of coaching, strength and conditioning, performance psychology, nutrition, sports injuries and rehabilitation, and also offers the chance to follow a football-specific pathway.

Sport in the UK is a £20 billion industry supporting hundreds of thousands of varied jobs in areas such as exercise and fitness, coaching and education, nutrition, administration and management, psychology and many more. This programme prepares students for fantastic sports careers through its unique focus on work-based learning, with hundreds of hours of embedded employment experience.

As well as a comprehensive overview of sport-specific subjects, such as the design and implementation of training and coaching sessions, you’ll also gain the research and analysis skills required for further study. Some of the students on this course want to run their own businesses when they graduate, like Tom, above, so the programme also includes business fundamentals such as how to write a proposal and studies into the sport business landscape.
